100K Preorders for Solana's New Mobile Device Marks $45M in Secured Development Funds

Solana, a major player in the mobile development sphere, recently confirmed a remarkable achievement: it saw 100,000 preorders for its new device, dubbed 'Chapter 2'. This impressive number was reached in less than a month, leading to an early end of the pre-order price phase set at $450.

The new product is slated to be shipped in the initial half of 2025. This development comes in the wake of Solana's previous success where it managed to sell 20,000 Saga smartphones, 15,000 of which were snatched up in a single day. However, an unprecedented global demand led to inventory shortage and subsequent order cancellations.

Part of the sales boosts can be attributed to a price surge in Solana's memecoin, BONK. Buyers of Solana phones were granted rights to claim BONK in an airdrop - at its peak, profits weighed in at around $985 while the phone cost merely $600.

While rewards with the new device are not yet clear, customers can reportedly look forward to benefits from partnerships with renowned NFT marketplaces and wallets.
