Bhutan and Binance Introduce First National Crypto Tourism Payment System

Bhutan, a small Himalayan nation renowned for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage, has taken a significant step into the digital currency realm with the launch of a national-level cryptocurrency payment system for its tourism sector. This initiative is a collaboration between Bhutan's Tourism Department, Binance Pay, and DK Bank, marking a groundbreaking venture as the world’s first of its kind.

Travelers to Bhutan, who are also Binance account holders, can now seamlessly pay for services such as tickets, hotel stays, tour guides, and other tourism-related products using cryptocurrencies. This payment system supports over 100 different crypto assets, including popular ones like Bitcoin (BTC), USDC, and Binance’s native token, BNB. This not only simplifies transactions for tourists but also aligns with Bhutan’s strategy to integrate digital currencies into its national economic framework.

The introduction of this system provides a significant benefit for Bhutanese businesses as well, as it enables them to accept cryptocurrency payments through a simple QR code system accessible via smartphones.
