The full written judgment in the case of Dr. Craig Wright vs. COPA was released on May 20, offering a comprehensive refutation of Dr. Wright's assertions that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin. Judge James Mellor documented extensive fabrications and fraudulent activities by Dr. Wright to support his unfounded claims.
The court emphasized that Dr. Wright's narrative was riddled with inconsistencies and fabrications, revealing an extensive campaign of dishonesty. The judgment concluded that Dr. Wright did not author the Bitcoin White Paper or the early versions of Bitcoin software, nor did he adopt the Satoshi Nakamoto pseudonym.
Despite Dr. Wright's claim of being hacked, the judgment dismissed these assertions, indicating that the evidence clearly demonstrated intentional manipulation by Dr. Wright. The court will address potential injunctive measures sought by the plaintiffs in a subsequent hearing.
Following the ruling, COPA released a statement on X, stating, "Today’s ruling is the result of a concerted and united effort across the entire open source community...Your efforts have secured a brighter future for open source development and protected the integrity of Bitcoin."
