Meta Introduces Llama 3 AI Model across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp

Meta's newly launched large language model, Llama 3, is set to revolutionize their own popular applications. As per the company's official statement on April 18, Llama 3, described as a 'major leap over Llama 2', has initially been released with 8B and 70B parameters, and future models could feature as many as 400B parameters.

The advanced AI model has been trained with a high-quality training dataset of over 15 trillion tokens, which is seven times larger than its predecessor, Llama 2. This improved model should outperform Llama 2, as well as competitor models such as Claude Sonnet by Anthropic, Mistral Medium, and Chat GPT-3.5 by OpenAI more than half the time according to Meta.

Meta has not only launched this sophisticated model for developers; general users are also benefiting from this advanced AI technology. The company has unveiled Meta AI, a dedicated platform offering AI-powered writing assistance, trivia games, simulated job interviews, and homework help, available to users in the US and over 12 other countries.

Besides, Llama 3 is integrated across all Meta products, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, and even available via Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses within the US, with plans to extend it to its Meta Quest VR headset. The implementation of Llama 3 comes amid advancements in various consumer-oriented AI services, fueling the rapidly developing AI industry.
