Notcoin, a popular play-to-earn game, has donated over 1 billion NOT tokens, valued at approximately $7 million, to Telegram and its founder, Pavel Durov. This significant donation was announced via a social media post by the Telegram-based project, which included a screenshot showcasing the transaction and a message of gratitude towards the messaging app and its founder.
This donation reflects a continued appreciation from the Notcoin community, with a previous donation having occurred in February initiated by token holders. The previous donation highlighted the community's gratitude for the opportunities created by Telegram and its team.
Notcoin, which launched as a Telegram Mini App in January, rapidly gained traction, boasting over 35 million players. Utilizing a unique gaming model, users mined in-game currency by tapping a Notcoin icon on their phones, later converting these virtual assets to the NOT token, which was widely airdropped on May 16.
However, the NOT token airdrop faced certain challenges, as multiple Bybit users reported difficulty receiving their tokens before the market opened. Bybit CEO Ben Zhou acknowledged the issues, noting that 370,000 on-chain transactions from Notcoin caused delays. To date, 70% of users were credited, with promises to improve the process in future events.
