Japanese video game development company, known for the 'Final Fantasy' series, Square Enix, has announced its first venture into the Web3 gaming ecosystem with an upcoming NFT auction for its new project 'Symbiogenesis', developed on Ethereum and Polygon blockchains. In other news, the renowned auction house Christie's continues to harness the NFT space, following the Beeple's $69 million sale last year.
The auction for Square Enix's new game is set to take place in three phases in the following week, providing opportunities to acquire integral digital collectibles. Participants' eligibility and ranking are determined by their involvement in a recently held campaign. While NFTs in the game serve multiple purposes like unlocking narrative elements, participant activities on the Discord server may offer exclusive rewards.
In the meantime, the adoption of NFTs by Christie's after a groundbreaking sale has placed the 257-years old auction house as an unexpected tech thought leader. On another side, the native token of NFT platform named Blur appreciated by 22% following its listing on Binance's convert feature.
These developments reflect the continuing trend in the adoption and application of NFTs in various industries, a trend that could shape the future of digital transactions, gaming, and arts.
