Square Enix to Auction NFTs for Symbiogenesis Game

By: Eliza Bennet

Noted game developer Square Enix recently revealed auction dates for its highly-anticipated Symbiogenesis non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The company specified that the NFTs would be sold in three phases. The first phase will run from Nov. 27-28, the second from Nov. 30-Dec. 4 and the third from Dec. 2 to Dec. 3. The Symbiogenesis game, which incorporates Ethereum-based NFTs, will officially launch in December.

According to the game's documentation, the first phase of auctions will predominantly feature facet and mesh characters and will exclusively admit early investors. However, the second and third stages will welcome participants in an 'allowlist entry campaign.' The participants will be granted NFT 'relics' and score points that count towards their eligibility in phase 2. The 50 highest-scoring and 40 randomly selected participants from ranks 51st to 300th will be able to bid on NFTs in phase 2, while the rest are allowed in phase 3.

Symbiogenesis is dubbed by Square Enix as a 'narrative-unlocked NFT entertainment' game. Details of a past partnership between Square Enix and Web3 infrastructure provider Elixir are still scanty. Square Enix is famous for creating the Final Fantasy series, which has reportedly sold over 173 million units.
