In the recent episode of 'The Simpsons', the show took a jibe at Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs) and crypto, following its own foray into the NFT space earlier this year. The episode featured Homer putting his son, Bart, on-chain, sparking a family discussion over the concept of fungibility.
In 2021, 'The Simpsons' launched its digital collectibles, offering golden, Bart-themed NFTs to devoted fans of the long-running animated series. The show's humorous tilt towards NFTs, therefore, comes as a somewhat ironic twist. The incident yet again magnifies the reach and influence of NFTs, even as mainstream television finds ways to integrate and jest about the technology.
