UK Court Declares Craig Wright is Not Satoshi Nakamoto

By: Eliza Bennet

In a major legal development, the UK High Court has ruled that Australian computer scientist and businessman, Dr. Craig Wright, is not Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin. The bench ruling took place on March 14th, following a legal battle between Wright and the Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance (COPA).

Judge Mellor, after considering the evidence, concluded that Wright was not the author of the Bitcoin whitepaper, did not create the Bitcoin system, and wasn't operating under the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto during 2008 to 2011. These key declarations were shared by BitMEX Research, offering further details about the verdict.

COPA has established through evidence that the tools Wright claimed to have used for drafting the Bitcoin whitepaper were not available during the stated time, thus contradicting his claims. Despite Wright's rights to assert his belief in being Satoshi Nakamoto, the court judgement clearly negates any claim he made to the Bitcoin whitepaper's authority.

This judgement therefore brings an end to a significant debate about the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto while setting the path for further discussions in the cryptocurrency realm.
